Frequently asked questions

Programs: publishing opens access for exactly 6 days. When you press Publish test day, faculty and learners can sign in right away with their codes, and access closes automatically 6 days (144 hours) later. Publish when your rosters, schedule, and cases are final, ideally 1–2 days before test day. Do not publish more than 6 days ahead, or access will close before the exam.

For programs (administrators)

When should I publish a test day?

Once setup is final, ideally 1–2 days before the exam. That gives faculty and learners time to find their room and schedule. If you want learners to see results in their portal, the release must also happen within those 6 days (or re-open access later, see below). The administrator console warns you if the exam date falls after access would close.

What does publishing do?

Faculty and learners can sign in at their portal with their personal code: through the test-day link in their e-mail, or by choosing your program and the test day.
If the test day was in setup, scoring opens.
Access ends automatically 6 days after you publish. Faculty and learners are signed out, and their codes and links stop working. Administrators keep full access to everything, including scores and reports.

How do I save my work before going live?

Use Save draft (or Ctrl/⌘ + S) at any time. Saving never publishes anything. Until you publish, faculty and learners cannot sign in. After you publish, every save shows up for faculty and learners immediately, so treat saves on a published test day as live changes.

Can I send codes before publishing?

Yes. Codes and links do not work until you publish, and each e-mail says how long access lasts. Most programs publish first and then press Send codes to all, so the e-mail can show the exact closing time.

Can I re-open or end access early?

Re-open for 6 days starts a new 6-day window from that moment, for example to release results after the exam. Existing codes keep working. End access now closes the window immediately.

What link do faculty and learners get?

Each test day has one learner link and one faculty link (copy them from the publish bar). Everyone in a group gets the same link. Their personal 6-character code tells us who they are.

How does a new program get started?

Anyone can sign up a program. You get a sign-in link by e-mail and can start building test days right away: rosters, cases, schedules. Until MockBoards reviews and approves the program, it cannot send e-mail (codes, invitations, or reports), publish test days, or add administrators, and it does not appear in the program list. Approval is usually within one business day.

Can someone help with just one test day?

Yes. MockBoards can give a colleague administrator access to a single test day. They see and edit only that test day, not the rest of your program.

For faculty and learners

How do I sign in?

Open the link from your e-mail and type your code. Or go to the examiner portal or learner portal, choose your program and test day, and type your code.

It says the test day is not published or access has ended.

Your program opens access shortly before test day, and access lasts 6 days. If you need access outside that window, contact your program.

I lost my code or it does not work.

Ask your program administrator to resend it. A resent code replaces your old one. Codes are not case-sensitive.
